With the ongoing goal of improving seat belt use in Colorado, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) recently turned its focus to rural counties across the state. Along with the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and local law enforcement, CDOT led a rural Click It or Ticket enforcement period, from July 18 to 24, to remind rural communities that buckling up is crucial to the safety of all drivers and passengers. CDOT data shows that many rural areas consistently rank below state seat belt use averages.

Monday, August 1st, 2016, at approximately 10:50 a.m., the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office served a felony arrest warrant on Jessica Yellowwolf of Eads.

Yellowwolf is being held at the Prowers County Jail on a charge of Forgery by Check.  Bond was set at $4000.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. 

Jacquelin L. Kirmer, 83 died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born October 31, 1932 the daughter of Theron King & Frances Agnes (Chamberlain) Fluke.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officer Nate Martinez was honored by the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies for his bravery with the Pogue-Elms Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award, during the WAFWA summer convention in Cody, Wyo., July 25, 2016.

“This award recognizes Nate’s quick response and bravery, as qualities to be emulated by others when faced with similar scenarios.” said Bob Broscheid, CPW’s Director, regarding the circumstances that occurred last year near Dinosaur, Colo. “Nate reacted exactly as trained, and we couldn't be more proud of him.”

Exports of Colorado food and agricultural products have tripled in the past decade, reaching $2 billion in 2014.  To help Colorado companies develop export opportunities, the Colorado Department of Agriculture is hosting an Export Seminar on September 1, 2016, 9am-5pm in Broomfield. The seminar is designed to help companies new to exporting or companies looking to increase already established exports.
