The Kiowa County Commissioner's Regular Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott on January 26, 2017. Scott opened the meeting with a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Those in attendance were:

Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Eads

The Kiowa County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Fifteenth Judicial District Drug Task Force, has announced the recovery of a stolen pickup, which was located in Eads February 10.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle.

Three adults were arrested in connection with vehicle recovery.

Ken Buck Announces 2017 Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Ken Buck has announced the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for the Fourth Congressional District. The theme this year is "America the Beautiful." High school students from the Fourth District are encouraged to submit an original work of art for the contest. Submitted works will be displayed during the month of April at Centennial Park Library in Greeley as part of the exhibition. On April 14, the winners of the competition will be announced at an awards ceremony, also held at Centennial Park Library. The winning work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year. 

Skoal, Other Tobacco Products Recalled, Local Stocks Pulled

U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) is voluntarily recalling certain of its smokeless tobacco products, listed in the chart below, manufactured at USSTC's facility in Franklin Park, IL. USSTC has notified the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the recall and is working with federal authorities on this matter.

Home Town Gas and Grill in Eads has pulled all affected products from its shelves. Replacement stock for the affected products will not be in for a week, however unaffected products remain available for sale.
