Arvada Man Sentenced for Mailing Marijuana

Stephen Paul Anderson, 27, of Arvada, was sentenced this week by U.S. District Court Judge Christine M. Arguello to serve one year in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release for the manufacture of a schedule I controlled substance and the unlawful use of a communications facility, Acting U.S. Attorney Bob Troyer and U.S. Postal Inspector in Charge Craig Goldberg announced. Anderson, who appeared at the sentencing hearing free on bond, was ordered to report to a facility designated by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

Annual County Employee Salaries

 PURSUANT TO CRS 30-25-111, et. seq., the following is a list of Annual Salaries paid by Kiowa County

Board of County Commissioners for the year ending December 31, 2016, as follows to-wit:

HOUSE BILL 07-1187, Salary information for all county employees and officials shall be published

twice annually. The second publication shall be in February and shall list each employee by title, along

with the total amount of gross salary paid to such employee during the prior calendar year.

State Offices Closed Monday

Colorado State Capitol Dome

In observance of President's Day, many state offices will be closed Monday, February 20.

State driver's license offices, the department of Public Health and Environment's vital records office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Service offices and administrative offices for executive branch departments will be among the facilities closed Monday.

All of Colorado's state parks will be open and staffed, but administrative offices and visitor centers will be closed.

The Kiowa County Commissioner's Regular Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott on January 26, 2017. Scott opened the meeting with a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Those in attendance were:

Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Eads

The Kiowa County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Fifteenth Judicial District Drug Task Force, has announced the recovery of a stolen pickup, which was located in Eads February 10.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle.

Three adults were arrested in connection with vehicle recovery.

Ken Buck Announces 2017 Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Ken Buck has announced the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for the Fourth Congressional District. The theme this year is "America the Beautiful." High school students from the Fourth District are encouraged to submit an original work of art for the contest. Submitted works will be displayed during the month of April at Centennial Park Library in Greeley as part of the exhibition. On April 14, the winners of the competition will be announced at an awards ceremony, also held at Centennial Park Library. The winning work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year.
