SBA has launched certify.sba.gov, a new website to further streamline and improve the application processes for small businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to do business with the federal government.

Elbert County Seeks Witnesses to I-70 Shooting

Elbert County Sheriff Shane Heap is seeking witnesses and assistance in locating suspects in a freeway shooting that took place during the early morning hours Friday.

According to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded shortly before 1:00 a.m. to mile marker 352 on Interstate 70 just west of Limon for a reported shooting. The victim was a man from Kansas who had been traveling east when a blue, 4-door Honda pulled alongside the man's vehicle. At least one of the two occupants of the Honda began shooting.

Monday, August 1st, 2016, at approximately 10:50 a.m., the Kiowa County Sheriff's Office served a felony arrest warrant on Jessica Yellowwolf of Eads.

Yellowwolf is being held at the Prowers County Jail on a charge of Forgery by Check.  Bond was set at $4000.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Regular Meeting of the Kiowa County Commissioners was called to order by Chairman, Richard Scott at 9:06 a.m. on July 14, 2016. Commissioner Oswald opened with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Those in attendance were:

First Degree Assault Charges Filed

On Saturday, July 23, 2016, at approximately 9:09 pm, the Kiowa County Sheriff's Office/Bent County Dispatch received a 911 call to the 1000 block of Wansted Street in Eads for a domestic disturbance.  Adam Perez, 28 was arrested on charges of first degree assault, vehicular assault, and criminal mischief/domestic violence.

Perez was arrested and held at the Prowers County Jail with no immediate bond. During a court appearance Monday, July 25, bond was set at $20,000.

The Kiowa County Sheriff's Office has charged 18-year-old Fredrick Turner with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol-Minor, Reckless driving, Open alcoholic beverage container and Minor in possession of alcohol. 18-year-old Patrick Hollis has been charged with minor in possession of Alcohol. These charges stem from a traffic accident that occurred when the vehicle collided with the building causing damage on July 27, 2016 at approximately 12:24 a.m., in the 100 block of 7th Street, Eads, Kiowa County, Colorado.
