Wolf Creek Ski Area opens today for winter season

Wolf Creek received a 30-inch storm over the past week, allowing for the second-earliest opening in the resort's history as slopes open Saturday.  The all-natural settled base is 24 inches at the midway with 30 inches year-to-date this season. Wolf Creek will be open Saturday and Sunday and continue weekend operations until snow conditions allow skiing throughout the week.

Hunters impacted by Silver Creek Fire can seek license refunds

Due to an extensive land and road closure caused by the Silver Creek Fire, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will offer hunters who hold licenses for Game Management Unit 27 the opportunity to request a license refund or preference points restoration up to the day before the season begins, effective immediately.

Dam repairs limit access to state wildlife area at Blue Lake

Access to Adobe Creek Reservoir State Wildlife Area and Blue Lake State Trust Land southwest of Haswell will be severely limited until May 2019 due to repairs being made to the dam by its private owners.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife was informed of the road closure Tuesday by W.W. Wheeler and Associates, the engineering firm overseeing dam repairs at Adobe Creek Reservoir, which is also known as Blue Lake.

Deer hunters: watch for mandatory chronic wasting disease testing information

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) will be conducting mandatory chronic wasting disease (CWD) testing again during the 2018 hunting season in an effort to continue collecting more information about CWD and how it may be affecting our herds. Voluntary and mandatory sampling is critical for data collection on this disease that impacts the long-term health of our herds.
