The 10th Annual Boggsville Days is coming October 5

The Boggsville Historic Site will celebrate its rich multi-cultural history October 5 with events for all ages.

Experience life at Boggsville in the 1860s

  • Visit the blacksmith
  • Sample some chuckwagon cooking
  • Chat with a few miners on their way to the gold fields
  • Learn the history of the Buffalo Soldiers
  • Take a guided wagon ride to learn the history of Boggsville and its residents
  • Tour the original restored Boggs and Prowers houses built in 1866 & 1867
  • See the site of Kit Carson’s last home. You never know when a gunfight may breakout!

There will be demonstrations on the history of livestock branding, butter making, making tortillas over an open fire, and munitions firing.

For the young and young at heart, attend class in an 1860s school room, step into the tipis, try your hand at milking a goat, or dress in period attire at the Olde Time Photography tent. There will be period children’s games and piñatas.

Enjoy the live music of Forrest and Margaret MuCurren, multi-cultural dancers and hear of the life of Amache Ochinee Prowers. To satisfy your hunger and thirst, there is a benefit lunch of pulled pork, cowboy beans, and coleslaw available from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for $10/plate and concessions all day. All meals and drinks come with a souvenir cup with unlimited refills. Don’t forget the Trade Room and vendors for souvenirs, books, homemade soap, art and more.

Shuttle service is available from the parking area to the site core. There is no charge for admission. Boggsville Historic Site is located 2 miles south of Las Animas at 28210 State Hwy 101. For questions call Anita at 719-469-9550.
