Ag stats: Kansas crop progress and condition report – week ending October 31, 2021
For the week ending October 31, 2021, there were 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 22% short, 59% adequate, and 7% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 27% short, 57% adequate, and 4% surplus.
Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 28% fair, 51% good, and 11% excellent. Winter wheat planted was 91%, near 95% last year and 89% for the five-year average. Emerged was 71%, behind 76% last year, but near 69% average.
Corn harvested was 90%, near 89% last year, and ahead of 85% average.
Soybeans harvested was 69%, behind 82% last year, and near 70% average.
Sorghum mature was 96%, near 99% last year and 97% average. Harvested was 71%, near 73% last year, but ahead of 59% average.
Cotton condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 39% fair, 52% good, and 5% excellent. Cotton bolls opening was 97%, near 95% last year and 94% average. Harvested was 11%, behind 19% last year, and near 13% average.
Sunflowers harvested was 65%, near 67% last year, but ahead of 53% average.
Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 7% very poor, 19% poor, 39% fair, 34% good, and 1% excellent.
