Melissa Marie Kirkpatrick, 43, was arrested on December 5, 2016, by the Walsenburg Police Department on suspicion of First Degree Murder of her ex-husband Timothy Kirkpatrick in September.

Timothy Kirkpatrick died on September 16, 2016, at the La Junta home (2303 Carson Avenue) he shared with his ex-wife. La Junta and Otero County law enforcement officers were called to the home and found Mr. Kirkpatrick unresponsive and he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation was conducted by the La Junta Police Department, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Otero County Sheriff’s Office, and the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Melissa Kirkpatrick is being held on $1M bond.
