CDOT Crews Out in Force for Statewide Winter Storm
Snow covered roads, slick conditions
Widespread snow is falling across the state this morning, covering roads and conditions are slick on major corridors. CDOT crews are focusing efforts on plowing and treating interstates and major state routes, making multiple passes.
Motorists are urged to limit travel if possible, be prepared for difficult driving conditions and be equipped with snow tires. Leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead, take it slow and stay behind CDOT plows.
CDOT asks motorists to please not drive on the I-70 Mountain Corridor if you do not have tire tread that measures at least 1/8".
Traction and chain laws are expected to last through the day on the I-70 Mountain Corridor. The Traction Law requires motorists to have snow tires, tires with mud/snow (M/S) designation, or a four-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle. The Passenger Vehicle Chain Law states that every vehicle on the roadway must have chains or an alternative traction device (like AutoSock).
