Chance for storms returns Tuesday - Kiowa County weather forecast for June 18, 2019

After an active day that saw tornado warnings for parts of Kiowa County, Tuesday will be slightly cooler as the chance for strong to severe thunderstorms returns.

The day starts with light winds out of the north for western Kiowa County, and out of the south for eastern areas. By this afternoon, look for wind gusts to 10 miles per hour out of the north to north northeast across the area.

Eastern Kiowa County also has a slight chance of showers during the morning hours, increasing as thunderstorms develop later in the day. The western half of the county can expect dry conditions under cloudy skies early in the day. Showers, with some thunderstorm potential, are likely across the county during the early evening hours, mostly dissipating by midnight.

Isolated tornadoes could return Tuesday afternoon, along with some hail.

High temperatures for the day will mainly be in the upper 70s, with a few low 80s to the far west. Low to mid-50s are expected overnight.

Highs Wednesday are expected to pick up a few degrees, with a slight chance for the return of thunderstorms.

Monday, winds were gusting to 22 mph during shortly after 9:00 p.m. The temperature is [weather:currtemp], with [weather:currrain] inches of rain so far today. Yesterday, 0.46 inches of rain was recorded in Eads, with a high of 81. Parts of western and east central Kiowa County may have received 2-4 inches, and possibly more, rain from Tuesday’s storms according to National Weather Service radar data for the past 24 hours. The strongest wind gust since midnight was [weather:todaymaxwindspeed] mph, while the high temperature for the day so far was [weather:todayhightemp] at [weather:todayhightemptime].

Elsewhere in Colorado, high water from mountain snow melt continues for south central and western Colorado. Warnings and advisories are in effect for numerous mountain streams and rivers. Flood watches are in effect for parts of the San Luis Valley.
