Eads Board of Trustees meeting minutes - August 10, 2021

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday August 10, 2021 at 4:56 p.m. in the Town Hall. Town Clerk, Robin Fox, took roll call:

  • Mayor – Joe D. Shields- Present
  • Trustees – Present – Dennis Pearson, Kathy McCracken, Karl Eikenberg, and Terry Riley
  • Absent – Justin McLoud and Meghan Buck
  • Town Clerk- Robin Fox –Present
  • Assistant Clerk- Barbara Scranton-Present
  • Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present
  • Town Attorney – Lance Clark - Absent
  • Guests Present – Stephanie Gonzales and Cindy McLoud

Minutes­- Kathy McCracken motioned to approve the July 13, 2021 minutes with corrections. Karl Eikenberg seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting. Kathy McCracken motioned to approve payment of the bills.  Dennis Pearson seconded, motion passed unanimously. (General Fund $48,810.75, Water Fund $15,663.74, Utility Fund $8,425.31, Conservation Trust Fund $962.98, Airport Fund $495.93; Total $74,358.71)

New Business: 

Stephanie Gonzales – Executive Director of SECED, Stephanie Gonzales, is working with Brent Frazee, SCEDS, and Mike Yerman, on the development of new homes in Eads. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), presented during the July 13, 2021 meeting by Mike Yerman was discussed again. There were questions and concerns presented by the Board regarding the Town’s $11,000 contribution. Stephanie clarified the misunderstandings. Terry Riley motioned to approve the MOU as presented. Karl Eikenberg seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Stephanie Gonzales requested a Trustee to act as a liaison between the Board of Trustees and SECED. Karl Eikenberg volunteered. 

Stephanie Gonzales also informed the Board of Trustees that there will be 3 duplex apartment buildings built on Lowel St. 

Old Business:

Bring Up Items 

Revitalize Main Street Grant – Town Clerk, Robin Fox, was made aware of an available grant to Revitalize Main Street. This Grant is through the Colorado Department of Transportation. The overall purpose of this grant is to encourage people to get outside and encourage different modes of transportation; walking and biking are the primary examples. 

Adjournment- Karl Eikenberg motioned to adjourn the meeting. Dennis Pearson seconded, motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 5:42pm.
