Governor Polis appointed Jon R. Schumacher to the Gunnison County Court in the 7th Judicial District on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Schumacher fills a vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Ashley Burgemeister. The appointment is effective immediately.

Schumacher is the founding attorney at the Law Office of Schumacher & O'Loughlin, LLC. He has held that position since 2011. His practice handles both civil and criminal cases.

He previously worked as a senior associate attorney with Cliggett & Associates, P.C., from 2003 to 2011. From 1997 to 2002, he was an attorney and founding member of Bachus, Schumacher & Schanker, LLC. He was an associate attorney with Wilson & Associates, P.C., from 1994 to 1996.

Schumacher earned a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in 1990. He earned his law degree from the University of North Dakota in 1994.
