- USDA Update- Rod Johnson: The cool, foggy, wet mornings this past week sure didn’t seem like the first week in August.
- Kit Carson Clips- Marilyn White: The Calvary Riders arrived at the Mitchell House. I got my ride on a beautiful Harley Davison. Mary Ellen Davis took a ride also. Pretty brave for a 81 year old lady.

- An oil rig mud pump stolen near Brandon last June has been recovered in Oklahoma. The pump was valued about $150,000.
- Tracy Weland of Cheyenne Wells was named Junior All-Round Cowgirl at the Little Britches Rodeo.

- Haswell- Missouri-Pacific B&B gang No. 3 is stationed in Haswell to tear down pre-fabricated houses occupied by Camp 15.

- “Yes, we now have no gardens.” Eads was visited with a hailstorm that came very near eliminating all garden truck for the rest of the year.
