- The Kiowa County Sheriff is recommending that residents lock their homes and vehicles following a series of burglaries in the county.
- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: Out near the marker for Grady Stage Station, I looked down and there was a new looking golf ball. The nearest golf course is 30 miles or so. I don’t think anyone can hit that far.

- Work is progressing on the sign, commissioned by Unity Lodge, at the new roadside park in Eads.
- USDA Update- Rod Johnson: Excellent moisture was received last week, with amounts mostly over two inches county wide.

- Southeastern Colorado Health Care Association ceased operations at the Eads Medical Clinic.
- Catherine Scherler of Sheridan Lake was crowned Queen pf the Colorado Flying Farmers and Ranchers.
50 Years Ago - May 3, 1974
- Dana Beeson wins Kiowa County Spelling contest. She will travel to Denver for the state spelling contest.
- Eads school band achieved a II - or excellent - for their performance at the Arkansas Valley Large Group festival. Sixteen high school bands attending the contest.
- Chickens were listed as inventory to be sold at an auction in Cheyenne County.
