- The Colorado, Kansas, & Pacific Railroad, has signed a lease to operate the former Union Pacific rail line running thorough Kiowa County.

- R. Eldon Gulley resigned as president of the First National Bank in Eads, stating it is time for a change. Mr. Gulley started his employment with the bank as a cashier back in 1969.
- Members of the Eads High School Band rehearsed for their appearance at the Air Force Academy during Band Day.
50 Years Ago - October 11, 1974
- Two Buttes Reservoir will be closed to all fishing from October 8 through February 28, 1975, to permit waterfowl to rest undisturbed on the reservoir.

- Charlie Cunningham purchases the Eads Furniture Store from Richard Berger, who then bought Plains Amusement Company from Ben Weiser.
