- Kiowa County Commissioner Rodney Brown told the Eads Chamber of Commerce it was likely that the Sand Creek historic site would become a national park or monument.
40 Years Ago - February 1, 1985
- Kiowa Drug, 1206 Maine St. Eads, celebrated its ten years anniversary January 28.
- Dora Lu Gulley was honored for her many years of service and hard work for the Eads Chamber of Commerce.
- The Burl Scherler family of Sheridan Lake attended three-day International Flying Farmers Workshop in San Antiono.
50 Years Ago - January 31, 1975
- Mike Franklin, Haswell student, has a hectic schedule between school and his professional western singing career. He is preparing to tour in several states starting February 5.
- Kit Carson Neighbors- Ruby Lafferty: Close to 125 people were served at the pancake supper, and the museum membership grew quite a bit.

- Haswell’s oldest businessman M.R. retired from service with Conoco. Had he waited until June he would have been with the company 31 years.

- According to the office of A.R. Rittgers, County statistician, there were 74 births in Kiowa County.
