- Two Cheyenne Wells youths were arrested north of Chivington and face a lengthy list of charges
- A prison transport van traveling north bound five miles south of Eads on Highway 287 went off the left side of the road and collided with a delineator post then rolled 1.5 times.
- The first of several activities planned by the Lamar Chamber and the Small Business Development Center was held to help area businesses prepare for the new challenges and opportunities the Super Wal-Mart will create.

- Bylie Jo Beeson, born at 1:08 a.m. January 1, 1983, was not only Eads “First baby” but apparently is the “New Year’s Baby” for the entire southeast Colorado, including Pueblo and La Junta.
- Nursing Home News- LaVerne Fischer: Our usual senior citizen card games continue. The storm only kept this group away one playing day.
- Kit Carson Roundup- Ruby Lafferty: Kit Carson was an unexpected host to possibly 300 or more stranded motorists during the storm.
