Kiowa County Sheriff Bryan Williams released a statement Friday morning announcing the discovery of two bodies in the county.

According to William’s statement, the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office assisted a Kansas law enforcement agency during mid-September in a missing persons investigation.

Wednesday afternoon, the remains of two people were located south of Eads. Their identities have not been released by the Kiowa County Coroner’s office, however Kansas media outlets have reported that the pair are believed to be Linda L. Estrada, 44, and Amy R. Ford, 39, from Emporia, Kansas. The Emporia Police Department has also posted a statement on the city's official web site identifying Estrada and Ford as the two bodies discovered.

According to the Emporia Gazette, the women were reported missing September 11, prompting an investigation by the Emporia Police Department. A person of interest in the case, who has not been identified, is in custody on unrelated charges.

Autopsies will determine the official cause and manner of death.

The investigation is continuing. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is providing assistance in the case.
