RRWCD to hold public hearing on proposed change to water use fee
The Republican River Water Conservation District (RRWCD) Board of Directors will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The meeting will take place in the conference room of the Cobblestone Inn & Suites, located at 35952 US-385, Wray, Colorado, 80758.
At this meeting, the Board will conduct a public hearing regarding a proposed change to the RRWCD Water Use Fee. At the recent quarterly meeting, the Board discussed and approved moving forward with a public hearing on a proposal to alter the fee structure from a flat rate of $30 per irrigated acre to a 50/50 split between irrigated acres and water pumped. The Board has not yet made a final decision on this proposal.
Under the proposed change, 50% of the income from the Water Use Fee would be assessed on irrigated acres, while the remaining 50% would be based on the amount of water pumped by each well. The pumping assessment would be the average of the previous three years of water-use records as reported by the Colorado Division of Water Resources.
As with all RRWCD meetings, the public is welcome to attend and participate in the hearing. Individuals wishing to participate via Zoom can find the meeting link on the RRWCD website at www.republicanriver.com.
