Town of Eads Board of Trustees special meeting minutes – December 2, 2020
NOTE: The Town of Eads originally provided a version of these minutes for publication which had not, despite a statement to the contrary, been approved by the Board Trustees. The approved, less detailed version of the paragraph which begins "Town of Eads Realignment of Duties," provided several hours later, has been substitued below.
A Special Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Wednesday December 2, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. in a Zoom meeting. Mayor Shields, took roll call:
- Mayor – Joe D. Shields- Present
- Trustees – Present – Dennis Pearson, Justin McLoud, Kathy McCracken, Karl Eikenberg, and Terry Riley
- Absent – Meghan Buck
- Town Clerk- Robin Fox –Present
- Assistant Clerk- Barbara Scranton-Present
- Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present
- Guests Present – Lance Clark
Town of Eads Realignment of Duties - Director of Public Works, Van Brown, requested the Board of Trustees to restructure and eliminate the foreman position of the Public Works department. The Board discussed the necessity of the position, budgetary issues, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, alterative options, potential future maintenance needs, efficiency of the department, and absorption of the foreman's duties and responsibilities. The Board discussed that the elimination of the position would result in elimination of employment for the person holding the position.
Kathy McCracken motioned to eliminate the foreman position within the Public Works department. Dennis Pearson seconded. Mayor Shields called for a roll call vote. Dennis Pearson – Yes, Kathy McCracken – Yes, Karl Eikenberg – Yes, Justin McLoud – Yes, Terry Riley – Yes.
Terry Riley motioned to allow Mayor Shields to sign a letter of notification to the employee. Justin McLoud seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Adjournment- Terry Riley motioned to adjourn the meeting. Kathy McCracken seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 4:57 pm.
