Weekend Weather Outlook – A Brief Taste of Autumn
By Chris Sorenen
A chance for showers and thunderstorms continues through Friday night, along with some autumn-like temperatures Friday and Saturday. Snow has already made an appearance for some eastern mountains.
Friday’s high temperature will be around 80. Saturday will be slightly cooler, with a high in the mid-70s ahead of a warm-up early in the week. Mid-to upper 80s return Sunday, continuing through Wednesday. Overnight lows through the period will gradually increase from the low 50s to near 60.
Although not a certainty, showers are possible throughout the day Friday, becoming a chance for thunderstorms and heavy rain later in the day before decreasing overnight.
The possibility of precipitation largely falls out of the forecast for Sunday through the latter part of the week, however there is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night.
Monday afternoon could see winds pick up to the 20 to 25 mile-per-hour range ahead of an upper tough, with gusts reaching 30 mph.
There has been some light snow on Pikes Peak over the past few days. Cooler air today could result in a few inches of accumulation atop the higher eastern mountains and for Pikes Peak.
