The Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary had productive meetings in June and July

when they met for lunch at J J’s Ranch House Restaurant.  Treasurer Loretta Seibel gave reports of financial accounts.  The Auxiliary appreciates donations for memorials as for former member, Betty Holthus.   The ladies bought blooming plants and some vegetables which the residents and staff help water.  Maintaince man, Jose Hernandez, built two tall wooden boxes which the Auxiliary bought the materials for.  Some of the residents really do prize these boxes for plants.

Betty Crow bought the root beer for the traditional ice mugs of root beer floats to celebrate Father’s Day.   Loretta Seibel and Betty Crow drove to Lamar in May to buy fresh flowers for arrangements by Teri-Simmons-Castle for the Mother’s Day.

Activity Director, Tonya Lane, comes to each meeting to tell about the various activities she and her helpers do with the residents.  They direct entertaining games such as Bingo, Horse Shoe, Painting, Scrabble, Ring toss, Scrapbooking, Jenga, Jokereno, and other action games. This summer they like the days when staff pushes them in wheelchairs around town and they have rides on the trailer about town with stops for ice cream at the Maine Scoop.  Brooke Lenox and Miriah Smith, college girls, are Weisbrod staff who helps Tanya some days.  In June, Ellen Lane, the new Nursing Director, visited the meeting to get acquainted.  Madonna Pollreis presented Linda Trosper a framed certificate and gift certificate for the J J’s Restaurant meals and expressed the Auxiliary’s sincere appreciation for her over 35 years of organizing the annual Hospital Bazaar.

Linda has the Community Building is reserved for November 17thand she already is taking reservations for vendors since this is the Auxiliary’s only fundraiser.

Each second Tuesday evening of the month, some Auxiliary members play Bunco or Bingo with the residents.  They have changed their regular meeting day back to the second Tuesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. at the Ranch House.

At the July meeting, President Glover, presented Doris Lessenden with movie tickets, Maine Scoop ice cream coupons, and a “Certificate of Love for Others in trying to make life better for others.”  The next meeting will be Tuesday, August 14.
