Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary meeting notes and projects
A number of ladies attended the October 2019 monthly meeting of the Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary meeting at JJ’s Restaurant meeting room.
Alice Glover called the meeting to order. Doris Lessenden reported that the gold plate for Margaret Frazee will be sent from the engravers soon for Shannon Dixon to place in the lobby’s memorial glass display. We remind readers that when family and/or friends donate $100 in a person’s name to the Auxiliary, we have a metal gold plate engraved in their honor.
Treasurer Loretta Seibel reported that there was no change in the income for the month.
We say “much thanks” to Linda Trosper for her generosity. She made Halloween fun for us by placing pretty napkins by each place setting and passing around a large Halloween bowl of candies, mostly fine chocolates, and goodie bags so we could take treats home.
Linda is working diligently on the Fall Bazaar for November 23. This annual bazaar will be held at the Kiowa County Community Building at the fairgrounds in Eads. We have 37 and a half spaces for vendors, some of whom have sent in their requests. She plans to ask the Prairie Queen 4-H Club if they will be the caterers for morning snacks and lunch. It is free for the public to enter from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be a drawing for numerous donated gifts. This is our only fundraiser, so we do hope that people from all around will come to support us and the vendors. We earn money from selling tickets for the drawing, and this is a great place to buy unique Christmas gifts, hand-made items, bake sale foods, wood crafts, and other items.
Tanya Lane of the Activity Department told us about the October activities and how the residents enjoy the parade of school children in their costumes on Halloween afternoon. She is accepting RSVP’s for the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner being held Sunday, November 24. We plan to pay for copies of photos of families who want to have their photos taken in a setting that special family day.
Loretta Seibel, Alice Glover, Robin Musgrave, and Doris Lessenden volunteered to play Jokereno with the residents October 8.
Our next meeting is November 12 at 11:00 am. New men and women are welcome to join us.
