Charles Edward Barber, age 84, of Longmont passed away peacefully March 13, 2023. Charles was born in Lamar.
Charles (Chuck or Charlie by his family and friends) was born to Faye Elizabeth Walker and F. Edward Barber in Lamar.
Federal Reserve policymakers have targeted a “soft landing” for the U.S. economy since beginning their effort a year ago to tame runaway inflation by hiking interest rates. That is, they believed they could do so without sending the U.S. into recession.
Donald Lee Graves
December 22, 1946 — March 21, 2023
Donald was born December 22, 1946, to Lee William and Clara Marie (McCracken) Graves and passed away March 21, 2023, at his home in Lamar with his family by his side at the age of 76.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Clara Sheesley; step-father, Roy Sheesley; father, Lee William Graves; step-mothers, Betty Graves and Mable Graves; sister-in-law, Louise Graves; and brother-in-law, Mike Borzillo.
The New Mexico State Legislature voted to send two constitutional amendments to statewide ballots in 2024.
The Daniels Fund announced its 2023 class of Daniels Scholarship Program recipients. 238 high school seniors across Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming were selected as 2023 Daniels Scholars, including 138 students from Colorado.

The Town of Kit Carson Trustees met on February 27, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall in Regular Session. Present and answering roll call were Mayor Jeremy Gaynor. Mayor Pro Tern Rick Gekeler. Trustees: Mike Buchanan, Joel Maxcy, Jason Dechant, Matt Randel, and Carl Anderson (arrived at 6:50). Staff present: Town Clerk: Christie Johnson.

Carolyn Von Hemel was born April 26, 1940, to Augusta Ross Von Hemel and Beatrice Alta (Watson) Von Hemel in Claremore, Oklahoma. Carolyn passed away March 16, 2023, at Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield. She was 82 years old.
A memorial service will be held in Holly for Carolyn during the summer months, date and time to be determined.
Arrangements are under the direction of Maltbie Funeral Services.
