Elda Irene McKinnis was born May 15, 1955, at Lamar to Ervie James and Juanita M. (Greene) Reeves and passed away January 14, 2022, at her home in Eads following a long battle with cancer with her family by her side at the age of 66.
Starting February 1, the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site Visitor and Education Center located at 1301 Maine Street in Eads will be closed due to staff shortage.
The Sand Creek National Historic Site and visitor contact station will remain open Thursday to Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The occupancy is being limited to one family/group at a time.
Masks are required for everyone, regardless of location or vaccination status in all National Park sites, buildings, and crowded outdoor spaces.
