Thanks to donations, Colorado Operation Game Thief is increasing the reward offer from $5,000 to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest or citation in the case of two mountain goats that were shot and found dead July 3, approximately 2.8 miles up the Quandary Peak Trail.
Selma Louise McCrary
May 13, 1939 – July 29, 2018
Selma Louise McCrary was born to Grace and Lawrence Weisdorfer May 13, 1939, in the Prairie Queen Community. She was the second of four children.
She married John Thomas Hoffman March 18, 1956, and had two children: LuAnne and John, Jr. (Tom) Hoffman. Louise did various part time jobs in her life – second to being a stay-at-home mom.
Producers were still assessing damage last week from tornadoes and hail that occurred July 29, 2018, according to the Mountain Region Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA.
I would like to express my thanks to the staff and emergency room doctor at Weisbrod Memorial Hospital, the Eads Ambulance Service and the AirMed staff for their care and assistance while I was ill.
I'd also like to thank the Eads Medical Clinic staff and Dawn Back for recognizing and acting on their concerns regarding my post-surgery complications. It's good to know we have these services close by in an emergency. You are all very appreciated!
Jimmie Don Patterson
March 31, 1971 – August 6, 2018
Mr. Patterson died unexpectedly at his home near Eads. Funeral services are pending.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Farm Credit of Southern Colorado recently held Board of Director elections by mail ballot for four positions on the Board.
Stockholders elected to serve three-year terms on the association’s Board include Jeff Uhland of Eads, Jim Crowder of La Junta, Mike Livingston of Stratton, and Sid Yoder of Karval.

The Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Motor Vehicles has launched 15 new online services at mydmv.colorado.gov, bringing total online services offering to 34. These online services were added as part of the transition to the new DRIVES computer system, which took place over the weekend.
Farm production expenditures in the United States are estimated at $359.8 billion for 2017, up from $346.9 billion in 2016. The 2017 total farm production expenditures are up 3.7 percent compared with 2016 total farm production expenditures.
