- A ceremony in Prowers County officially launched a transmitter which will serve the weather warning needs for a large portion of Kiowa County.
- Weisbrod Auxiliary agrees to purchase clippers. The old clippers had disappeared from the nursing home and weren’t working properly anyway.

Doc was just getting up to leave the philosophy counter as Herb walked in. Herb was grinning and flexing muscles and had the look of eagles in his eyes. We stared.
“Herb,” said Doc. “You know, you can overdo a good thing.”
“Why Doc … whatever do you mean?”
“I realize that getting more exercise is your resolution for the new year, but a man your age … you need to pace yourself a little, that’s all. Don’t try to get in shape all at once.”
Death Notice - Bonnie Lessenden
The Lessenden and Spady families learned that Bonnie Lessenden died Saturday.
Thank you for your prayers over the last five months.

Kiowa County Sheriff's Office Arrest and Summons Report - February 2018
Friday, February 16, 2018, Deputies responded to a residence in Eads for a disturbance. During the investigation, Deputies found that Matt Mallery had a warrant for his arrest. Deputies took Matt into custody and transported him to the Bent County Jail and was booked and held on a $1,000 bond. |

Two Juveniles Arrested for Threats to Niwot High School in Colorado
Two male juveniles have been arrested for alleged threats against Niwot High School that occurred in mid-February.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received Safe 2 Tell reports February 16 in which a 16-year-old male, who has not been identified, made statements and released a video related to a school shooting in Florida. Other students at the school were concerned and made reports to authorities.
