The Kiowa County Commissioner's regular meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. on June 12, 2018 by Chairman Richard Scott. Scott opened the meeting with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Those in Attendance:

The Bent's Fort Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association will be meeting July 14 at the Rocky Ford Grand Theatre located at 405 S. Main in Rocky Ford. The general meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Dear Sharon,
When I was a child, I had to sit at the dinner table until I finished eating my green beans. I would plug my nose and eat as many as I could. Then I would wait for my Mom to finish washing the dishes, and my dad was deep into the evening news. I would discreetly toss the remainder of the green beans underneath the fridge. “Mom, I’m finished.”
As fires scorched more than 200,000 acres in Colorado, drought conditions deteriorated for part of the state.
Abnormally dry conditions expanded in western Larimer county, while moderate drought returned to northern Routt County, along with smaller portions of Moffat and Jackson counties.
Conditions in the remainder of the state remained stable, with more than one-third of Colorado in extreme over exceptional conditions, the two worst catagories.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is asking for the public’s help in collecting information related to two mountain goats that were shot and found dead July 3, approximately 2.8 miles up the Quandary Peak Trail in Summit County.
Charles “Chuck” H. Emmert, Jr.
September 5, 1945 – July 7, 2018
Charles “Chuck” Emmert, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Kit Carson with his wife, Sherry, by his side.
Funeral services are pending.

J.W. Kemp
February 1, 1928 – June 30, 2018
J.W. Kemp was born on February 1, 1928, in Adrian, Texas, to Jonnie Kemp and Iva Williams-Kemp and passed away on Saturday June 30, 2018, at the Prairie Pines Assisted Living in Eads at the age of 90.
J.W. was preceded in death by his parents; by two sisters – Ivalene Tixier and Maudene Harris and by one daughter-in-law – Cindy Kemp.
