LCC Nursing Class of 2017 Honored

May 5, Lamar Community College Nursing graduates danced their way into the LCC Wellness Center to celebrate their accomplishments with the annual Nurse Pinning.

The Nurse Pinning ceremony is a traditional rite of passage that each nursing student completes before entering the profession.  Fifty-four students were pinned including 31 from the Level I (Practical Nursing) and 23 from the Level II (Associate Degree in Nursing/Registered Nurse) programs.

Severe Storms with Large Hail, Tornadoes Expected Tuesday Afternoon

Eastern Colorado faces the risk of hail – potentially two inches or more in diameter – as well as tornadoes Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after 11:00 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Bent, Otero, Crowley, Pueblo, Huerfano, Costilla and Las Animas counties which will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. There is potential for the watch area to expand later in the day.

Colorado Horse Tests Positive for Equine Infectious Anemia

This week, the Colorado Department of Agriculture, State Veterinarian’s Office, was notified by the US Department of Agriculture’s National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) that a Weld County horse tested positive for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). The Weld County facility is currently under a quarantine order that restricts movement of horses until further testing is completed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA).
