IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

Kiowa County recently received a letter from a citizen expressing a number of concerns about the county’s finances and current projects. The letter, along with the county’s response, appear below.

Commissioners Scott, Oswald, Mcloud,

I am, respectfully, requesting that this letter be read into the next Kiowa County Commissioners' meeting minutes. There are several questions that beg answers for the Kiowa County Taxpayers.

1)  What, if any monetary responsibility, do the taxpayers of Kiowa County have with

Prairie Pines?

The Weld County SWAT team has capture a man in Evans who had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Thursday morning, the Evans Police Department had been searching for Fernando Vasquez-Corral, 25, who was located at a home in the 2900 block of Glendale in Evans. Vasquez-Corral ran when he saw police, and barricaded himself inside his apartment. He refused to communicate with officers.

The Northeast Colorado Health Department is holding a healthy child clinic October 27 for children aged six months to five years..

Free screenings include vision, hearing, developmental, height, weight, social/emotional, speech and dental. Immunizations will also be available, but may have a cost associated.

The clinic will be held October 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Salud Family Health Center, located in the basement at 729 East Railroad Avenue in Fort Morgan. Anyone is welcome to participate, and appointments can be made by calling 970-867-4918.

Employers in Colorado added 4,000 nonfarm payroll jobs from August to September for a total of 2,656,200 jobs, according to the survey of business establishments. Private sector payroll jobs increased 8,100 and government decreased 4,100.

Arkansas River Headwaters

Friday afternoon will be windy but warm ahead of cold air that will flow across Colorado and drop temperatures significantly Saturday

Eastern Plains

Friday afternoon will be breezy across the eastern half of the state, with west winds in the 15 to 30 mile per hour range. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies, while the lower Arkansas valley will see mid-80s.

Overnight Friday, a cold front slips into the state. Though no precipitation is expected, Saturday’s temperatures will be 20 to 25 degrees cooler than Friday.
