For over a decade, you knew exactly what you were getting with a “Fast & Furious” movie. You went to see one of these movies, you got fast cars, gratuitous shots of women, dumb one-liners, ruminations on family during the slow parts, and completely implausible action sequences. The movies were fun if you were in the right mood and grating if you weren’t, but they never aspired to be anything more.
One of our most popular features over the past 16 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.

Ethel Winifred Stoker was born on December 4, 1918 to Thomas Harold and Florence Emma (Nice) Stoker and passed away on April 18, 2017 in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 98.

1 pound ground beef
1 onion (small,chopped)
1 bell pepper (chopped)
2 cans low-sodium tomatoes (diced, drained, about 30 ounces)
1 cup macaroni (uncooked)
2 1⁄2 cups low-sodium tomato juice
1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
1⁄2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon oregano (optional)
1 can low-sodium kidney beans (drained)

Deputies investigated the matter and conducted an arrest warrant for Identity Theft (Felony), protection order violation (Misdemeanor) and domestic violence for Christopher Riley. On Thursday, March 4, 2017 Deputies were notified that Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office served the arrest warrant and took Riley into custody. |

Let’s talk about stocker cattle in Colorado.
Maybe you know them as a savvy buyer of ‘odds and ends’ at the sale barn. Perhaps they are a cow-calf operator who holds back some steers for extra profit. Or, they run a crackerjack starting yard. I’m talking about the so-called ‘elusive’ stocker operator. These operations exist because of a simple fact – young cattle are risky cattle, and feedlots prefer a safer investment. Stocker operators get those rangy steers into feedlot shape!
