The United States Geological Survey recorded an earthquake southwest of Denver Saturday. The quake occurred just north of Bailey near Crooked Top Mountain at 4:20 a.m. and measured 2.4 on the Richter Scale. It occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers.

No damage are available.

The new version of “The Magnificent Seven” (a remake of a 1960 Western that I have not seen, itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s “The Seven Samurai,” which I have) is one of those movies that starts off looking award-worthy, but gradually loses steam until it’s nearly unwatchable by the end. There’s no one point where it really drops the ball, it just consistently fails to capitalize on its impressive early scenes.

The Lamar Community College Rodeo team will host its annual Antelope Stampede through October 2, at the Prowers County Sand & Sage Fairgrounds. 

Fourteen teams from throughout Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska will compete over three days with performances at 2:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:00 am on Sunday.

The Northeast Colorado Child Care Resource and Referral will be holding the 2016 Fall Workshops for child care providers and early childhood educators in Northeast Colorado on October 15^th in Yuma.  This day of training is for family child care providers and center/preschool staff.

Colorado Tourism Office Seeking Public Input on Strategic Plan to Maximize State’s Tourism Potential

The Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) is scheduling a second round of listening sessions in cities, mountain towns and the plains in mid-October to hear input on proposed priorities for inclusion in a statewide strategic plan for Colorado tourism.

• According to Gay Uhland, Kindergarten teacher at Eads Elementary, the elementary students collected over 150 stuffed animal to donate to the children in New York to comfort the victims of September 11 tragedy.

• The CO Department of Agriculture issued a cease and Desist order to Arriba Grain, Inc, in Arriba September 27. The order does not allow any grain to be purchased or accepted for storage until the company comes into compliance.
