“Pete’s Dragon”
Disney has had a lot of success lately with live-action versions of animated classics like “Cinderella” and “The Jungle Book.” Now they’re trying to have success with a live-action version of a 1977 film that was half animated and half live action. Actually, the dragon this time is computer generated, so it’s still a mix of live action and animation.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is advising residents and hunters in the northeast and southeast regions of the state that biologists will be using a low-flying airplane to conduct aerial prairie dog surveys in the coming weeks.
Flight dates are weather-dependent but, generally, the flights will start around Sept. 14 and conclude by Oct. 1.
"These surveys will primarily be north and east of the Denver metro area and south of Lamar,” said Species Conservation Coordinator Tina Jackson.

President Barack Obama today ordered flags be lowered Sunday, Sept. 11, to half-staff nationwide for Patriot Day, and proclaimed Friday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11 as National Days of Service and Remembrance, in honor of those who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

Kiowa County Fair weekend will start off dry and cooler before a temperature spike Sunday.
Expect a high temperature in the low 80s Friday, and further cooling Saturday to the upper 70s. Look for a sunny and hot Sunday, with a high above 90.
Breezy conditions will prevail for Friday’s activities, with north winds in the 15 to 20 mile per hour range, increasing to 15 to 25 mph during evening hours.
A Funeral Mass for long time Holly, Colorado resident, Norman Dorenkamp will be held at 10:00 a.m. with Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Holly. Interment will take place at the Holly Cemetery.
