A Day in the Life

By Michelle Wyckoff

Laundry. Described by Google as “the washing of clothes and linens, a process which is usually done in a room reserved for that purpose.” Described by me as “one of the most invigorating, enjoyable chores known to womankind, but possibly some men, or even kids who are old enough to manhandle the washing machine.”

I know that has to be an accurate description, otherwise, why would I let it build up into an overbearing, intimidating “laundry blizzard” that’s taken over the entire upper level of my house? It only takes over the upper level because Dustin brings his upstairs before it takes over the lower level, hence the word “blizzard.”

I actually don’t mind doing it-I’ve faced the fact that it has to happen, just like death and taxes.  I like to have a day alone in the house to get my laundry ducks in a row. I begin by taking a few extra vitamins, loading  my favorite tumbler with creamy, cold coffee and start the sorting process: whites, colors, jeans, towels, and more whites, colors, jeans, and towels.  Then I put in a really good TV series, (NCIS is my favorite), load the remote with fresh batteries, refill the creamy cold coffee and spend the day loading, unloading, drying and folding until the job is done. I can easily get it done by the end of all 13 seasons.  Tomorrow I’ll put it all away.

Yep.  Just like death and taxes…...

May you be living the good life Mona Walker!
