- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: Saturday was Kit Carson Day and I thought they said it was its 100th birthday.
- A Kiowa County ballot question will appear to increase the mills from 3.82 to 42.733 for the continued operation of Prairie Pines Assisted Living.
25 Years Ago - September 10, 1999
- Kiowa County tax anticipated revenue will decrease $303,822 next year due to the loss of the railroad and decline of oil and gas prices.
- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: I had some shots in my left shoulder and the doctor said not to lift much. Glad it wasn’t my right as I shovel my food with that one.

- The 1984 Kiowa County Fair 4-H Stock sale total was $45,160, up $7,400 from last year record.
- There were 103 people at the Courthouse Meeting Room for the 9th annual “Old-Timers.”
- Kiowa County and Eads will receive a share of the $16.6 million of 1984 Colorado Lottery Conservation Funds. Kiowa County will receive $5,939.18 and Eads $4,946.68. Neither the Kiowa County Commissioners nor City Council have designated what the money will be spent for.

- Rubie Weisdorfer was selected as Kiowa County Farm-Ranch Wife.
75 Years Ago - September, 1949
- Julie Mae Owen was selected Rodeo Queen of the Kiowa County Free Fair. She is an experienced rider and roper, having broken and trained her own horse. She is a member of the Eads Roping Club.
- Haswell was a silent town Friday. Every business house was closed except the post office. Everyone had gone to the Kiowa County Fair in Eads.
100 Years Ago - September, 1924
- Several from south of Towner hauled coal from Towner the first part of the week. Sounds like winter will soon be here.
- While exercising a pony at the race track, Clyde Wilcox met with an accident that resulted in a broken arm.
