·     Local Business leaders and government officials from across the county met in an Eads Chamber of Commerce-sponsored forum to present updates on projects taking place throughout Kiowa County.

·     Many friends gathered at the park in Haswell for the annual Community Fish Fry.

·     Wild Horse Roundup-Curtis Schrimp: We seen quite a few orange caps and jackets on four wheelers looking for the pronghorns.

October 13, 1993

·     High School Principal/Superintendent Gary Monter informed the board that a bag of marijuana was found near the front of the high school.

·     About Town-Ida Lessenden: Two unusual fall happenings- I found a snowball blossom on the bush and a white Shasta daisy blooming. Both usually bloom in early spring.

October 13, 1978

·     Donald H. Rittgers retired from the Eads Post Office after 41 years of service. Donald signed on as a substitute rural carrier in 1937. He said he has been a “sub” carrier for every mail carrier who has been employed in Eads.

·     Tax Notice: Tax on Real Estate must be in my office by October 31, 1978 to avoid minimum charges of $2.50 per description.

·     Eads High had “their teachers” back in the 50’s for homecoming too! Gail “Fonz” Crawford, Chet “Lennie” DeVaughn, Rodger “Squiggie” Fooshee, and Bob “Bowser” Beatrice.

October 11, 1968

·     Plainview School began its Driver Education program at the beginning of the 1968-69 school year. The Driver Education car is being furnished by the Lamar Motor Co.

October 8, 1943

·     Authorities met with the Board of County Commissioners and entered into a contract for construction of a piece of road for the Air Base at Arlington. The new road will be 1.5 miles in length & serve as a connecting link for the highway leading west from the Air Base to a point on Highway 96 south of Arlington.

October 4, 1918

·     The Nee-No-She Oil Company began hauling lumber and timbers for its derrick and buildings on Nee-No-She Dome.

·     Hunters report ducks plentiful on the lakes south of Eads and many are taking advantage of the situation.
