The Eads High School knowledge bowl team competed in the Region 4 online regional, state qualifying tournament.  The team had participated in an online competition earlier in the school year, so had seen the new online format once.

The team is loaded with seniors this year.  Joe Haase, Hatch Nelson, Mollie Kelley, and Amber Kopasz are the Eads seniors, while underclassmen Maggie Haase and Rachel Kopasz also contribute to the team.  

Ida Mae Davis

March 8, 1930 - January 31, 2021

Funeral services for Ida Mae Davis will be held Friday, February 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Kit Carson.  Burial will follow in the Kit Carson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 6: p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Cheyenne Wells, and from 11:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church in Kit Carson.

The Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site facilities in Kiowa County, Colorado, are resuming normal operations as the county shifts to lower COVID-19 restrictions.

Colorado returned over $47 million in unclaimed property last year, the state treasurer's office said Monday. The state paid 23,434 unclaimed property claims in total for the calendar year.

Kiowa County Hospital District will now allow patient visitation on a limited basis. 

• Visits must be scheduled in advance by calling the hospital and speaking to the nurse on duty. 
• Visits can be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. daily. Visits will be limited to one or two individuals at a time and will occur in a designated area of the hospital. 
• Visitors will be screened prior to the visit and must wear a mask. 
• Visits can be scheduled by calling Wiesbrod Hospital at 719-438-5401
