The Regular meeting of the Kiowa County Commissioners was called to order on September 26, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. by Commissioner, Donald Oswald. Oswald opened the meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Oswald moved and Robertson seconded the motion to approve minutes as presented. 

Motion carried.

Chairman Richard Scott entered the meeting at 9:30 a.m.

“Joker” is a film whose reputation precedes it. It has a good reputation because it won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival and Joaquin Phoenix is generating Oscar buzz for his performance as the title character. But it also has a bad reputation because it’s a dark, violent, adult take on a popular comic book character that seems to celebrate irresponsible social upheaval.

Kiowa County Public Health would like to announce their annual flu shot clinics for 2019. Injectable Quadrivalent Vaccine will be available for both children and adults including High Dose vaccine for adults older than 65.       

Nasal vaccine will not be available.

A major energy industry service provider has laid off workers in Grand Junction “due to local market conditions,” the corporation told The Center Square.

“Making this decision was not easy, nor taken lightly, but unfortunately it was necessary as we work to align our operations to reduced customer activity,” a spokesperson for the Texas-based Halliburton said.
