A celebration of life memorial service for longtime Eads resident L.G. Vanderwork will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Eads United Methodist Church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  

Highway 145 will remain closed for an undertermined amount of time after large boulders cut a trench across the road.

Some shoreline areas at John Martin Reservoir in Bent County, Colorado, are closed to protect nesting Least Terns and Piping Plovers.

The weekend of June 1-2 will be a “double header” for beef youth exhibitors wanting to “beef up their game” in the show ring. 

A day-long Stock Show University will kick off events Saturday, June 1, and a multi-breed Junior Extravaganza will follow Sunday, June 2. All events will be at the Arkansas Valley Fairgrounds in Rocky Ford.

Hastings College held its 133rd Commencement May 20, 2019. During the ceremony, the College awarded degrees to 212 undergraduates and 13 Master of Arts in Teaching graduates. Graduates represented 17 states and three countries.
