East End Events

By Sharon Scott

Once again, the 4th of July fireworks display; potluck dinner, parade and tribute to our flag ceremony were a huge success at the K A Hall in Sheridan Lake.  A large crowd of community members, bicyclers and harvest hands enjoyed the evenings activities.  A big thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Harvest is back in full swing again and most everyone is happy about the high yields, but not the price.  I can remember years ago when we would have been in seventh heaven for the yields and the price.  Such is farming!

Weather Outlook – the Week Ahead: Hot, Dry

By Chris Sorensen

After a chance of isolated thunderstorms Sunday afternoon into the evening, the week will start off hot and dry.

Severe storms will be possible near the Kansas border later in the day, particularly in Prowers and Baca Counties, where large hail – potentially golf ball-size – may be possible.
