Kiowa County Commissioners Meeting Minutes – April 26, 2018

The Kiowa County Commissioners meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Scott on April 26, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.  Those in attendance were:

Richard Scott, Chairman of the Board

Cindy McLoud, Commissioner

Donald Oswald Commissioner

Tina Adamson, County Administrator

Roland Sorensen, Deputy

McLoud moved and Oswald seconded the motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

Oswald moved and McLoud seconded the motion to approve the vouchers as presented.

Motion carried.

  • The Kiowa County Library is having a buy one get one free book sale for the month of May
  • Sheridan Lake Bible Church is having a new Bible study, "The Armor of God", on Fridays at 9a.m. at the parsonage.  It will last 7 weeks and started last Friday.  All ladies are invited to come.
  • Kiowa County Clerk's Office will be CLOSED May 21-22-23 for MANDATORY STATE TRAINING on new MOTOR VEHICLE changes going into effect Aug 2018.

Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered in Honor of Specialist Gabriel Conde

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise to sunset Saturday, May 12, 2018, in honor of Specialist Gabriel Conde.

Conde, 22, died in the line of duty April 30, of injuries sustained from small arms fire while serving in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Kapisa Province, Afghanistan.

Conde was assigned to A Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

Colorado Crop Production Highlights

COLORADO HIGHLIGHTS 

Winter wheat production in Colorado, based on conditions as of May 1, 2018, is forecast at 83.60 million bushels, according to the May 1 Agricultural Yield Survey conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. This forecast is 4 percent below last year’s production of 86.86 million bushels and 20 percent below the 105.12 million bushel crop produced two years ago. Acreage for harvest, forecast at 2.20 million acres, is 180,000 acres more than a year ago.
