Dear EarthTalk: I’ve heard that the chemicals we use to unclog backed-up drains are harmful to our health and the environment. Can you suggest safer alternative products or methods?

An El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot and killed in the line of duty Monday – the third Colorado law enforcement officer to die in the line of duty over the past five week.

As the County Line Rivals wrap up their regular season at the Crowley County Tournament this last weekend, they seem to have turned the corner and are ready for Regional action in Sanford this coming Friday and Saturday.  County Line scored a total of 144 points giving them the tournament championship plaque and was 40 points over the 2^nd place team, Crowley County Chargers.  They were clicking and came away with 3 tournament champions, 2 – 2^nd place, 1 – 3^rd place, 2 – 4^th place, 1 – 5^th place, and 2 – 6^th place.&n

Though north central Colorado is seeing some snow Sunday, the plains can expect colder temperatures and minimal precipitation.

Too Much Month at the End of the Money?

Most of us get up every day and trade our time for a specific amount of money each month.  There are also some of us out there who also work when we have time off like on the weekends or even holidays.  Then there are the select few that have passive revenue streams like rentals, a cow herd, or other investments that help them create wealth to try and get ahead or just help provide for the family.

When Steve and Dud got up to go get a paper, it left just Doc and Bert sitting at the philosophy counter of the Mule Barn truck stop. Bert turned his head and smirked a little, being careful not to let Doc see him. Doc also didn’t see Dud outside, punching in a number on his cell phone while Steve stood by as a cheerleader.

“Doc,” said Loretta, filling the coffee cups, “phone call for you, Hon.”

“Here? Okay…”  Doc walked over to the cash register and picked up the phone.

“This here Doc?” said the caller. “The Doc what lost his squirrel?”
