East End Events

Saturday before last, the Plainview Community Club held their Christmas craft fair at the gym.  There were lots of vendors with goods for sale.  The sophomore class served lunch and it was a very enjoyable day.

A week ago Saturday, Linly and Sherrel Stum visited with Clint and Wilma Evans, former Towner residents.  They said to tell everyone hello for them.

County Line Rivals Wrestlers Take on Las Animas

It was a busy week for the County Line Rivals as they wrestled in Las Animas on Tuesday against the host team and Lamar JV and they traveled to Limon on Saturday for their annual tournament.  Competition is always tough in Limon and the team had to suffer a few lumps along the way.  There were 21 teams at the tournament and the County Line Rivals scored a total of 69 points which place them tied in 9th place with Sedgwick County-Fleming.  Here are the results from Las Animas Tri Meet and the Limon Tournament.

Funeral services for long time Cheyenne county resident Daisy C. Duvall will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Cheyenne Wells Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Kit Carson cemetery in Kit Carson.

She was born December 9, 1924, in Oklahoma and departed this life December 7, 2017, at Cheyenne Manor in Cheyenne Wells.

Fire Danger Continues – Warm Week Ahead

Red flag warnings continue for portions of the eastern plains of Colorado Sunday, with dry and unseasonably warm temperatures expected to continue through the work week for most of the state.

Cheyenne, Kit Carson and Yuma counties are under a red flag warning until 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Northwest winds will be gusting up to 25 miles per hour, and the humidity could fall as low as eight percent, which could cause any fires that start to spread rapidly.

Omicron Delta Kappa Inducts 16 Colorado Members

The Hastings College chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), a national leadership honor society, welcomed 16 new members at its annual induction ceremony in November.

To be a part of ODK, membership qualifications include being in the top 35 percent of juniors and seniors classes. ODK encourages collaboration among members across the five phases celebrated by ODK: scholarship, athletics, service, communications and arts. Students must also demonstrate exemplary character.
