Eads School Flu Vaccinations Set

Dear Parent/Guardian: Prowers County Public Health Staff will be offering flu vaccine to students attending Eads Schools on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 beginning at 9am. Due to the Affordable Care Act, effective January 1, 2013, all children with private health insurance coverage are no longer eligible to receive state funded vaccine. Due to this change any child who is covered by the following health insurance MUST provide their Member ID on the attached Parental Consent form (links are located at the bottom of this article) to receive a flu vaccination:

Medicare Takes Aim at Medical Identity Theft

(Family Features) Criminals are increasingly targeting people age 65 or older for personal identity theft. In 2014 alone, there were 2.6 million such incidents among seniors, according to the Department of Justice.

A growing offshoot of identity theft is healthcare fraud, which can result when someone unlawfully uses another person's Medicare number. Medical identity theft can lead to inaccuracies in medical records, which in turn can result in delayed care, denied services and costly false claims.

CBI Warns of Scammer Demanding Payment for Fines

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has been receiving reports of phone calls from a person posing as a CBI agent who demands payment of fines to avoid arrest.

The scammer is using the name of an actual CBI employee. The calls have occurred numerous times over recent weeks.

CBI says it would never call people threatening arrest for unpaid debts, fines, or other fees, and advises anyone who receives a similar call to hang up without responding.
