Storms Returning to the Eastern Plains Sunday, Flood Watch for Southeast Counties

Another day of severe weather is in store for the eastern plains of Colorado, with a flash flood watch already announced for southeastern counties.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected later in the day from Interstate 25 to the Colorado-Kansas border. Among the threats for northeast counties are tennis ball-size hail, wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour, and some potential for tornadoes.

Dud was out rambling around the other day, and was surprised to find the new preacher sitting beside an irrigation ditch. Dud plopped down and asked him what was wrong.

“I’ve only been here two weeks,” he said, “and someone’s stolen my bicycle. I really liked that bike.”

“Reverend,” said Dud, “everyone in this town knows everyone else, and thievery is almost unheard of. I wouldn’t take this personally as something against you, but I do have a suggestion.”

The preacher looked at Dud.

USDA Authorizes $12 Billion to Aid Producers Impacted by Tariffs

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will take several actions to assist farmers in response to trade damage from retaliatory tariffs.

U.S. President Donald Trump directed Secretary Perdue to develop a short-term relief strategy to protect agricultural producers while the Administration works on reciprocal trade deals to open more markets to help American farmers compete globally.

More Severe Weather, Tornadoes on Tap for Saturday Afternoon

More severe weather is expected a day after storms across eastern Colorado brought heavy rain, hail, tornado warnings and damaging 70 mile per hour winds to the region.

The National Weather Service is predicting thunderstorms producing up to two-inch hail and wind gusts up to 70 mph for parts of the region Saturday afternoon.

While the risk for tornadoes is low, the Pueblo NWS office calls out Kiowa and Prowers counties in southeast Colorado as being at risk for isolated tornadoes.
