My first wife came from a ranching family ‘way back up in the hills of California and had a cousin, Ted, who was a hounddog man.

I talked my way into hunting with him, of course.

All went well until we were on the way home and a badger ran across the road and dove into a large culvert pipe.

“Oh wow!” said Ted, “Let’s get him!
He released most of the hounds and they plugged the culvert pipe at both ends with bawling insults. In the dead center of the pipe was a snarling badger.

Kenneth W. Robertson

September 30, 1939 – April 18, 2017

Kenneth W. Robertson passed away April 18, 2017, in Scottsdale, Arizona following a 10-year battle with COPD. 

Born September 30, 1939, in Ordway, Colorado, to the late, Beverly and Ula (Rush) Robertson.  He spent his childhood years on the family ranch north of Arlington, CO.  He attended schools in Arlington and Ordway.

Second Earthquake this Week for Northwest Colorado

Northwest Colorado has been struck by the second earthquake in just over two days.

The first quake occurred at 3:45 a.m. Thursday and was centered 22 miles northwest of Craig in Moffat County. The quake registered 3.9 on the Richter Scale and occurred three miles beneath the surface according the United States Geological Survey. Three people reported feeling the quake.

LCC Set to Honor Nursing Graduates in Pinning Ceremony

Lamar Community College will hold its annual Nurse Pinning Friday, May 5.  The ceremony will start 10:00 a.m. in the Wellness Center. 

LCC will pin 31 from the Level I (Practical Nursing) and 23 from the Level II (Associate Degree in Nursing/Registered Nurse) programs.  Two graduating students, Acacia Truitt and Tamela Williams, have been selected by their classmates to speak at the event.

78th Lamar Community College Commencement Set for May 6

The 78th annual Lamar Community College commencement ceremony will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 6, at the LCC Wellness Center.  Over 200 degree or certificate-seeking students are eligible to walk in commencement, including fall 2016 graduates as well as spring and summer 2017 candidates for graduation. 

No tickets are required for admittance.
