Severe and Extreme Drought Spreads in Colorado
While reservoir levels are high in anticipation of spring releases, severe and extreme drought has continued to spread in Colorado.
Despite Drought, Reservoirs Full Along Arkansas River
Despite a dry winter and below-average snowpack, water levels remain high in lakes along the Arkansas River managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, causing the closing of some roads, fishing and picnic areas and even a boat ramp.
Deadline Approaching to Comment on John Martin Master Plan
The March 12 deadline is fast approaching for the public to comment on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ proposal to revise the 1974 master plan governing operations at John Martin Reservoir State Park in Bent County.
The master plan will guide the way natural and cultural resources are managed for the next 25 years at the reservoir, built as a flood control and irrigation dam on the Arkansas River and opened in 1948.
