Kiowa County Sheriff's Office Arrest and Summons Report - January 2018

Thursday, January 11, 2018, Deputies were contacted by Sand Creek Massacre Site, for a report of an unwanted party. Deputies were informed that a male party refused to leave Sand Creek site. Deputies contacted Philip Splitter and took him into custody. He was booked into the Bent County Jail on the following charge: CRS 18-4-503(1)(a) 2nd Degree Criminal Trespass with a bond of $500.

Pet and Livestock Owners Cautioned About Rabies

The Colorado Department of Agriculture and Tri-County Health Department have confirmed that an alpaca in Douglas County has died due to a rabies infection. Pet owners are urged to check records to ensure rabies vaccinations are up-to-date. Livestock can also be infected with rabies and owners are encouraged to discuss the risk of rabies exposure with their local veterinarian.

DUI Enforcement Begins Friday

They say wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day will protect you from the pinch of a leprechaun, but planning a sober ride is the best way to stay safe during weekend festivities and avoid a DUI. As part of The Heat Is on DUI enforcement campaign, law enforcement will be out in full force to keep impaired motorists off the roads from Friday, March 16, to Monday, March 19.
