Online Survey Seeks Input on Elk Management Near Gunnison

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking public input through an on-line survey regarding a new elk-management plan for an area near Gunnison. The new plan will guide elk management in Game Management Units 66 and 67, which are located south of Gunnison and north of Lake City.

  • USDA UPDATE: Hot dry weather is affecting the springs crops. Grain sorghum & corn seems  stress the most, while millet & Sunflowers seem to be in a little better condition. Additional rains need soon to avoid a repeat of disastrous 2000 crop year.

Obituary - Robert L. Harris

Robert L. Harris was born on November 2, 1939 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Cecil and Celastine Harris.  “Bob” as he was affectionately known was married to Norma DeMarcus and they raised two children, Dale and Pamela.  Norma passed away in 1985, and Bob never re-married.  In 1975 Bob and his family moved from Pueblo, Colorado to Kansas City, Kansas.

With the ongoing goal of improving seat belt use in Colorado, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) recently turned its focus to rural counties across the state. Along with the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and local law enforcement, CDOT led a rural Click It or Ticket enforcement period, from July 18 to 24, to remind rural communities that buckling up is crucial to the safety of all drivers and passengers. CDOT data shows that many rural areas consistently rank below state seat belt use averages.
