The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Colorado is currently accepting applications for enrollment into the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). EQIP is a voluntary Farm Bill program that provides financial assistance for conservation systems such as animal waste management facilities, irrigation system efficiency improvements, fencing, water supply development, riparian protection, and wildlife habitat enhancement.&nb
The Bent’s Fort Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association will feature a presentation on Charles Goodnight, his life and legacy, Saturday, November 11. The meeting will be held at the J. W. Rawlings Heritage Center located at 560 Bent Avenue, Las Animas, CO. Prior to the presentation members will hold a general meeting at 11:00 a.m. followed by a catered lunch (cost $10).
Kidde, a unit of United Technologies Corp., has announced the recall of more than 40 million fire extinguishers sold in the United States and Canada since 1973. The extinguishers can become clogged, or may require excessive effort to operate the units, and they may fail to work in an emergency. The nozzle on the units may also come off with enough force to cause damage or injuries.
