Gardner Reopens Committee Fill Colorado Judicial Vacancy

Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) has announced an additional opportunity to apply for the vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, one of the busiest courts in the country with more than 500 weighted cases per judgeship. The number of judgeships on the court – seven – has remained the same for over 30 years, despite the state’s population growing by more than 70 percent and judicial workload remaining well above the national average.

Free Legal Self-Help Clinics Set for Prowers, Otero Counties

Prowers and Otero Counties will be hosting free legal self-help clinics via computer link for people without attorneys. Volunteer attorneys provide one-on-one assistance.

Otero County's clinics are offered on the second Wednesday of the month and is hosted by the Woodruff Memorial Library, located at 522 Colorado Avenue in La Junta. The next clinic is scheduled for February 8. Call 719-384-4612 to sign up for an appointment, which is be scheduled between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.

It’s Not Too Late for a Flu Shot – Take 3 Steps Now

Influenza (flu) is a contagious disease that can be serious. Every year, millions of people get sick, hundreds of thousands are hospitalized, and thousands to tens of thousands of people die from flu. CDC urges you to take the following actions to protect yourself and others from flu.

1. Get yourself and your family vaccinated!

A yearly flu vaccine is the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. Everyone 6 months or older should get an annual flu vaccine by the end of October, if possible, or as soon as possible after October.
