Suicide Survivors: Who Are They?

In 2014, Colorado was ranked 7th in the nation for suicide, with 19.78 deaths per 100,000 people, and a total of 1,083 suicide deaths, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. For every one completed suicide, there are 25 attempted suicides that are not completed. These are the survivors.

Kiowa County Commissioners’ Meeting Minutes – August 11
The Regular Kiowa County Commissioners meeting was called to order at 9:15 a.m. on August 11, 2016; by Chairman Richard Scott. Oswald led with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Those present were:

Scott moved and McLoud seconded to approve the minutes of the July 28, 2016 meeting. All Commissioners voted Affirmative.

Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale Honors Colorado’s 4H & FFA Youth
The 53rdColorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale at the Colorado State Fair has come to a close. According to preliminary totals, the 2016 sale accumulated approximately $524,700 from generous buyers supporting the state’s agricultural youth. This year also set the record sale for Grand Champion Market beef at $62,000 by Sam Brown & Family.

The new 2017 Kiowa County Fair Queen will be Reagen Johnson, and the Junior Princess is Kya Leonard and Tiny Tot Princess is Savanna Brown according to Fair Board member, Raelynn Riley. At the tryouts Sunday evening the Fair Board members, Ms. Riley, Scotty Englehardt, and Areta Laird, presented the 2016 Royalty, with belt buckles: Queen-Brooklyn Jones, Junior Princess—Kya Leonard, and Tiny Tot Princess-Savanna Brown.
